Diversion of Humanitarian Aid: Italian Magazine Deplores 'These Millions of Euros Gone Up in Smoke'

Faced with the current outcry over the continued diversion of European humanitarian aid intended for the population of Tindouf by the polisario and Algeria, the magazine "Insideover" highlights this matter, deploring "these millions of Italian euros gone up in smoke".

In an article published recently in this magazine specializing in international issues and belonging to the "Il Giornale" editorial group, journalist Mauro Indelicato goes back over the history of the creation of the polisario front "born in Algeria and financed by the Algiers government itself and operating from the Tindouf territories".

The author of the article recounts how the Algerian army is involved in this regional conflict and how it had forced people to move to the Tindouf camps, recalling that the puppet entity created by Algeria does not enjoy any international recognition.

The article also refers to the proven collusion of the polisario with Islamist terrorism, recalling that it was in Tindouf that a so-called Adnan Abu Walid Al-Sahrawi, one of the founding members of the group of the Islamic State of the Great Sahara, linked to Daesh, was born and grew up.

In this context, the Italian journalist recalls the efforts of the international community to reach a political solution to this regional conflict enshrining the primacy of the Moroccan autonomy proposal presented to the United Nations in 2007 and considered by the UN as "serious and credible for a realistic and feasible solution".

Mauro Indelicato points out that Italy is one of the countries providing funds for the population in the Tindouf camps, recalling that "on 5 February 2020, a cheque of half a million was generously donated by our country to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) within the framework of certain projects for the benefit of the camps set up in the province of Tindouf".

For the Italian journalist, this is "a lot of money", the fate of which is shrouded in mystery because the funds are not managed and granted in a transparent manner.
