In every election, the southern provinces give lessons in political maturity, responsibility, sense of patriotism and national commitment.

At regional and municipal elections September 4 , the turnout in some southern provinces was established at 80%, against 52.3% nationally. The province of Tarfaya, in the region of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, recorded the highest score (82.75%).

During communal electiopns of 2009, the rate exceeded 67% in the southern provinces, while the national average was 52.4%.

The same enthusiasm was proved during the constitutional referendum 1 July 2011, as the South participation average fluctuated between 84 and 92%. Guelmim-Smara region recorded 86.76%, the region of Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia Al Hamra 84.05%, while the region Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira registered the highest rate with 92,19%.

This response to the call of national duty leaves no doubt about the commitment of the various components of the local society in the consolidation of the state's foundations of law and democratic national institutions in a climate of peace, safety and stability.

It is undeniably the illustration of their determination to be at the forefront of the forces of the nation in defending the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the implementation of societal and modernist projects initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
