Corcas chairman meets with a parliamentary delegation from Tanzania

Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid received Mr. Edward Ngoyai Lowassa, Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs and Defense at the National Assembly of Tanzania, who is paying a working visit to Morocco, heading a large delegation.


Corcas chairman discussed with the delegation the latest developments in the Sahara issue, including informal negotiations under way in which the Corcas participate, under the auspices of the Personal Envoy of UN Secretary-General.

Ould Errachid also presented to his guests, the last UN resolution adopted last month and focuses on the efforts of the Kingdom to settle the issue.

For his part, Mr. Edward Ngoyai Lowassa reaffirmed his country's position that supports the autonomy project in the Sahara region, in accordance with UN resolutions, stressing the need for African countries to support this courageous initiative which ends a conflict that has lasted more than three decades.

In this context, the Tanzanian official expressed the hope that the Kingdom of Morocco will reintegrate the African Union to accelerate the settlement of the Sahara, adding that his country is about to act at the African scale to bring necessary assistance to Morocco in that direction.

The Tanzanian delegation which will pay a working visit in Morocco from April 28 to May 5, consists of 10 members, including President Lowassa, who have held many ministerial posts in his country, the last being that of Prime Minister between 2006 and 2008.

From the Corcas side, the meeting was attended by Mr. Kaddad Moussaoui, Corcas Vice President and Mr. Moulay Ahmed Mguizlat Council member.
