France reiterated before the UN Security Council that "the present and the future of the Sahara lie within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty", affirming that Paris' support to the autonomy Initiative proposed by Morocco in 2007 is "clear and steadfast".

The United States has welcomed the "historic" adoption of Security Council Resolution 2797 on Moroccan Sahara, reaffirming that Morocco's Autonomy Initiative is "the only basis" for achieving a just and lasting solution to this regional dispute.

The members of both Houses of Parliament affirmed, on Monday, that United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Moroccan Sahara issue enshrines the sustained diplomatic efforts carried out under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in defense of Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which consolidates the autonomy plan as the only basis for resolving the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, represents a historic turning point for the Kingdom, according to the President of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra Regional Council, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid.

UN Security Council Resolution 2797 on Moroccan Sahara is the result of HM King Mohammed VI's 26 years of sustained efforts along with His personal commitment to this issue, said Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
