The debate on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara at the C24 Caribbean Seminar, held in Caracas (May 14-16), ended with sharp exchange between Morocco’s Ambassador to the UN, Omar Hilale and his Algerian counterpart Amar Benjama. The Moroccan diplomat vigorously denounced the acts of intimidation exerted by his Algerian colleague against the delegations which supported the Moroccanness of the Sahara during this meeting.

Arab leaders reiterated their full and strong rejection of any support for armed groups or militias that operate outside the sovereignty of states, while affirming solidarity with all Arab countries in defending their sovereignty and territorial integrity

Responding to Algerian UN ambassador Amar Bendjama's misleading assertions on the Moroccan Sahara issue, at the C24 seminar currently taking place in Caracas, Venezuela, Morocco's ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, Omar Hilale, questioned him about his presence in Caracas, when he has a mandate from the Arab group to defend its causes in New York.

The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, represented by Council member Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, is part of an important Moroccan delegation, headed by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations, Omar Hilale, in the Regional seminar of the 24th Committee for the Caribbean Region, which is being held in Caracas, Venezuela, from May 14 to 16.

Tuesday, in Dakhla, a twinning agreement was signed between the Regional Council of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and the regional government of “Pura” (Peru), with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation relations in a number of areas of common interest.
