Sixth Nomads Festival in M'hamid El Ghizlane, March 6-9, 2009

The sixth edition of the international festival of nomads will be held from 6 to 9 March, In Mhamid El Ghizlane, (90 km southeast of Zagora), at the initiative of the "Nomads of the world."

Launched under the theme "Woman nomad, a willingness to give through the history of humanity", the festival intends to introduce visitors to the mysteries of the Sahara and highlight the natural, cultural and human resources in this region .

According to the theme chosen for this civilian, artistic and cultural event, this edition is to celebrate the achievements of nomadic women.

This is a heartfelt tribute to this woman, because of her important roles and her strong determination to overcome all obstacles and contribute to economic and social development.

 This edition includes craft exhibitions that reflect the memory of the nomadic culture, but also shows by Moroccan artists and others from several countries including India, USA, France, Spain, Cameroon, Angola, Algeria and Croatia.

The festival also includes panel discussions and lectures on topics related to nomadism, meetings around the stories, poems and sport camel racing, nomad hockey (El Moukhache). 

The international festival of nomads is primarily a research on various aspects of the life of nomads, through their behavior, their tools, their homes, their clothing and astronomical traditions, their way of life, their language and their rhythmic music. (MAP)
