Al Aych

Al Aych meal (literally subsistence food), also called Laâsida, is prepared mainly with flour and pure butter. It is one the main meals without meat in the Sahara.

Al Aych is prepared with Dchicha (barely). After boiling water in a pot that Sahrawis call Al marjen, and when barley is well cooked and ready, it is served in a special clay dish known under the name of Lgasâ. After, it is mixed either with sweet milk or with a special fat called Dahan.

We can add pure butter and olive oil according to tastes and to the availability of these ingredients during the year's seasons.
