Corcas Secretary General talks with delegation from the Association of Former Spanish MPs

Dr. Ben Maouelainin Ben Khalihenna Maouelainin met Monday, March 15 at Corcas headquarters with a delegation from the Association of Former Spanish Parliamentarians and Senators.

During this interview, Dr. Maouelainin mentioned the history of the Franco-Spanish colonization in Morocco from 1912 to 1956. He then presented the different phases of decolonization of the Kingdom of Morocco from 1956 to 1975, with the return of the Sahara to the motherland.

Dr. Maouelainin also presented to former Spanish parliamentarians genesis of the Polisario Front and the Cold War context in which the Sahara conflict developed.

In addition, Dr. Maouelainin said that the autonomy proposal was largely drafted by Corcas and was approved by His Majesty the King and presented to all Moroccan forces and friendly countries. He also added that it was qualified by the Security Council as serious and credible initiative and that therefore it is the just and final solution to this conflict that has lasted too long.

Dr. Maouelainin urged former MPs to ask the Spanish government and civil society to carry out census of the population held against their will in the Tindouf camps and to pay close attention to abuses of human rights perpetrated on a daily basis in these camps in absolute indifference of the international community.

The delegation was composed of Mr Fernando Sanz Alonso, Mr Pedro Bofill Abeilhe and Mrs. Maria José Elices Marcos.

During this interview, Dr. Maouelainin was accompanied by Corcas Vice-President Mr. Khaddad El Moussaoui.
