Mr. Montilla: the settlement of the Sahara conflict will be "advantageous" for all the region

The President of the autonomous government of Catalonia, Mr. Jose Montilla said, Wednesday in Rabat, that the settlement of the Sahara issue will be "advantageous" for all the region’s countries.

 

"The settlement of the Sahara conflict will be positive for all the region’s countries, Mr. Montilla told the press, following two interviews he had in Rabat with respectively Mr. Taieb Fassi Fihri, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Khalihenna Ould Errachid, the Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs. 

Concerning the Moroccan autonomy proposal for the Sahara region, the Catalan President said: « We, at the Catalan autonomous government, we respect any consensual political solution and we believe that a solution based upon the Moroccan autonomy proposal is possible in order to definitely settle this issue”.

The meeting between Mr. Montilla et Khalihenna Ould Errachid was attended by the Généralitat Mr. Josep Luis Carod Rovira, the secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Catalan autonomous government, Ms Roser Claver, Mr. Maouelainin ben Khalihenna, Corcas Secretary General and Khaddad Moussaoui, Corcas vice-president.


Mr. Montilla Monday began a three-day visit to Morocco by a large delegation consisting of representatives of sixty companies and professional organizations and a number of Catalonian departments.
