Fassi Fihri also recalled that the strategic partnership between Morocco and the EU, notably Morocco's Advanced Status, requires discipline, caution and wisdom in handling all issues relating to EU-Morocco relations, as a part of a responsible and constructive dialogue.
In this regard, the minister underlined having given all details of the developments of "what we call the events of Laayun and its surroundings today, which the Moroccan public opinion knows perfectly well and the international public opinion started to know better, thanks to these explanations."
He voiced extreme satisfaction with the EP, along with other European institutions, for not being misled by the manipulation and media deception which "we are witnessing these days."
The minister stressed that, contrary to ignoble allegations and propaganda, security forces did not use any firearms and no civilians were killed during the dismantling of the Gdim Izik camp, underscoring that "the only victims during this operation were among the security forces who, unfortunately, lost 11 elements."
He also highlighted that "the only aim of this disinformation campaign is to disrupt the negotiation process," stressing "the importance of this process to find a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to this regional conflict."
